Happy Birthday Sean!!

My sweet boy turned 8.....he is really enjoying the brainy bunch (his class at school), reading (loves diary of a wimpy kid and anything on bigfoot), playing basketball, skateboarding, playing in the leaves, hanging with his best bud Will and being funny. This is his bigfoot cake that turned out pretty well. With all the chaos of the house remodel we haven't had his friends party but hopefully very soon.

Reading

The school took pre-orders for the new Diary of a wimpy kid book Cabin Fever. We pre-ordered it and the next week during the book fair it was passed out to the kids. Sean was so excited to start reading it and hasn't put it down since.

Missile Mouse

They leave them on the 2nd grade ramp to be looked at by all the classes
The finished product

2nd graders decorate a pumpkin to look like a character from a book that they like. Sean chose to do Missile Mouse. He came up with the design and after some pushing finally got to work on it and it came out great.

Halloween crafts

The kids and I decorated the rental with spiderwebs and spider eggs. We made the spider eggs using some water and glue on yarn then wrapped it around a small balloon. Then we popped the balloon and stuck a spider on it. It came out pretty cool.

Ryan at kinder kapers

Tradition at the school is to have a small performance by the kindergarteners in the fall to show off how they are learning new songs. Ryan's class was "highlighted" on one song where he got to play a drum.

Pumpkin Patch

We visited the Pumpkin patch last week. Mackenzie of course did not want any pictures taken of her. SO I had to get pictures of just the boys.

Field Trip with Ryan

Ryan and his class

on the hay ride to see the bison and ostrich

eating lunch

I went on a field trip with Ryan's class to Crowe's nest farm. The kids ate lunch and we had a short rain shower then we were off to the dairy barn. They showed the kids how they milk the cows and the process it goes from cow to store. Then we went on a hay ride to see the bison and the ostriches. The kids were pretty impressed with the huge ostrich eggs. Then we wandered around looking at the turtles, snakes in the big barn then went outside to see goats, donkeys, miniature ponies, owls, pigs etc. They had a really good time.

Boys and their best friend/s

The boys love pretty much any dog that will love them back. They have been playing with Lucky and then also the dogs at the barn.

School year has started

Here is a picture Ryan drew for a book his class made on "friends." He was very excited to bring the book home and share it with me.
I am hoping to stay on top of the blog but as always I can't guarantee anything. I'm room parent for 2 classes and we already have so many things going on at school and outside that my head is usually spinning. And I am trying to stay up to date on remodel pictures as well.

The house has been painted....

The house has now been painted...and the cedar posts stained. It is coming together very nicely! I got 5 samples of paint to put on the house and knew instantly that it was the sage color we would go with. love it!

Ryan starts kindergarten.....

sitting at his table
putting his backpack on the hook
carrying his backpack with his water bottle, lunchbox and 2 packs of goldfish to share for snack
the 3 monkeys...they were being crazy
Ryan wanted Lucky in one of his pictures
He says "I'm ready" and Mommy says "I'm not!"

Ryan started kinder this year and it was a very emotional day for me. He's my baby and there were some tears (from me of course). He had a great day and can't stop talking about the fun he has in the classroom, on the playground, at music, art or PE. He doesn't see Mackenzie or Sean during the day but just being at big boy school makes him happy. He has several kids in his class that he knows from other times of his life either at preschool or at t-ball. And he's slowly learning who the other kids are and making new friends.
Though I did get a ton of stuff done that day...went to the gym, went to a movie (in the middle of the day!!), got some groceries and then it was time for pick up.

The boys

Every once in a while they will be nice and let me take pictures of them. This was before going to a graduation dinner for Heath.

Fun @ Perry Park

I went to Highland park for K-3rd and remember playing on the "rock" behind the school all the time. Mackenzie used to go play on that same rock with her cousins when she was little. Now we live so close we can ride the bikes over and let the kids play for a while. The boys love pretending they are ninjas or king of the mountain. We even met some friends over there and all the boys had fun playing around. There is even a little dino dig there which they got to find the dinosaur bones.
